Mandate

To bring together the available knowledge and expertise on suicidal behaviour in prisons in order to facilitate the wider dissemination of the fundamentals of effective suicide prevention in prisons.

Specific Tasks

To collect the "grey literature" on suicide in prisons (reports, government publications) and to disseminate it.
To create a bank of official strategies of suicide prevention in prisons and to have it available on the WEB.
To collect available screening instruments specific to inmate populations.
To prepare an international grant application to test these instruments.
To prepare a one day Symposium or Workshop to be included in the next IASP Congress in Ireland in 2007.
To update the WHO guide "Preventing suicide. A resource for prison officers (2000)".
