National Representatives 2023

Elections of the Council of National Representatives

Nominations are now open for several IASP National Representative positions. In accordance with the IASP Constitution, the Election Committee has called for nominations for the position of National Representative for the following countries;

Afghanistan, Australia, Austria, Bahamas, Bhutan, Brazil, Columbia, Cook Islands, Estonia, Ghana, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Kenya, Lithuania, Malaysia, Mexico, Nepal, The Netherlands, New Caledonia, Nigeria, Norway, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Republic of Korea,Β Spain, Sri Lanka, Thailand. Trinidad, UK and Uruguay.

The IASP Constitution calls for each nation to be represented by at least one member from that country who is in good standing (i.e. a current fee-paying member). The term of office for a national representative is four years; a national representative may however be elected for a second term of office of four years.

The criteria for selecting national representation are:
  • There shall be a minimum of three (3) members (ordinary (individual, organizational, student/volunteer), associate or honorary) for any country to be eligible to elect a National Representative.
  • Any ordinary member of the Association is eligible to become a National Representative.
  • In the event that there are less than 3 members in any country or when there are no ballots submitted to elect a new national representative, the Executive Committee may appoint a National Representative from among the membership of that country. However, where there is a number of neighbouring countries with less than 3 members, the Executive Committee can instead appoint a group representative in place of national representatives for these countries.

Please refer to Article 8 of the Constitution with regard to the appointment and the role, duties and responsibility of a National Representative and to Article 9 Section 3 with regard to the elections of National Representatives.

Any questions regarding the election process should be forwarded to the Election Committee.

Please note, that only members who are up to date with their 2022 membership dues are eligible to submit a nomination. Associate members are eligible to submit a nomination but not to vote.

You may renew your membership online or by downloading the form on our websiteΒ and sending it to membership@iasp.info.

If you have not received aΒ ballot paper for the election by November 16th, 2023, it may be due to the fact that Central Administrative Office has not received payment for 2022 membership fees. If you have paid your 2022 membership dues and do not receive the ballot paper, please contact the Central Administrative Office at membership@iasp.info.
