Virtual Cycle of Hope 2024
September 10
World Suicide Prevention Day, September 10th is dedicated to raising awareness and driving action to prevent suicides. It is a day to reflect on the importance of mental health, break the stigma surrounding it, and encourage open conversations. By recognising this day, we contribute to a global effort to reduce suicide rates and offer hope to those who are struggling.
This year’s theme ‘Changing the Narrative on Suicide’, is about transforming how we preceive this complex issue. It is about shifting from a culture of silence and lack of understanding, to one of openess, empathy and support.
‘Changing the Narrative on Suicide’ aims to inspire individuals, communities, organisations and governments to engage in open and honest discussions about suicide and suicidal behaviour. By initiating these vital conversations, we can break down barriers, create awareness, and promote a better culture of understanding and support.
Cycle Against Suicide’s Cycle of Hope/Mizen to Malin Challenge is an annual event that gathers people from all walks of life to embark on a cross-country journey, raising awareness about mental health and suicide prevention.
This World Suicide Prevention Day, Cycle Against Suicide has joined forces with the International Association for Suicide Prevention (https://www.iasp.info/) and invite everyone regardless of location to actively participate in our virtual ‘Cycle of Hope’.
Our ‘Cycle of Hope’ is more than just a physical challenge; it is a unifying movement that brings individuals, schools, organisations together, helping to create supportive environments in communities where people feel valued and heard. By fostering connections, promoting understanding and offering support, we can help migiate the factors that contribute to suicidal thoughts and actions.
Gather you family, your friends, you work colleagues and join our virtual ‘Cycle of Hope’. Together, we can create a brighter, more hopeful future for all.
