Belén Vargas is a Doctoral Candidate in Psychotherapy at the University of Chile and Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. She also holds a Master’s degree in Adolescent and Child Clinical Psychology. She is a researcher at the Nucleus to Improve the Mental Health of Adolescents and Young People Imhay, where her work focuses on implementing suicide prevention interventions and policies in real contexts. In addition, Belén has built a career in mental health policymaking for the Chilean government. She currently serves at the Department of Mental Health of the Ministry of Health in Chile, leading the Chilean National Suicide Prevention Program. Through her experience, she has developed a strong commitment to incorporating diverse perspectives in the design and implementation of mental health initiatives.
