Into the Light Suicide Prevention Walk/Run/Meal

Join us for our Annual Into the Light Suicide Prevention Walk/Run/Stroll September 21st at 6:00pm at the Newton County Fairgrounds to raise awareness for suicide prevention and mental health. National Suicide Prevention Week is September 8-14 and World Suicide Prevention Day is September 10th. Over 45,000 people took their own lives in 2020 and these numbers have climbed during the pandemic. Together we can walk to bring hope, educate our communities, support those who have lost loved ones, and support those with lived experience. If you wish to share a story board or memory board, please bring one. All proceeds from this event will be held by the Jasper Newton Foundation for future use in suicide prevention/mental health education programs within the local communities.

Registration and T-shirt pickup will be at the 4H building from 5:00 – 6:00 pm Central. The walk starts at 6:00 pm Central Saturday September 21, 2024.

We are all in this together, so this is not a timed event. You are welcome to do your personal best. 1k, 2k, and 5k routes will be available. (Under 6 years old no charge but no shirt will be provided)

Bring a lawn chair for after the walk to enjoy the evening outdoors with music while having a meal with us. Nearby restrooms will be available.

In addition, there will be music throughout the walk and after around the fire pit. Please come and share your stories with us and we will share ours. This event is open to anyone even if they do not want to walk or run, just come out and be a part of something great.

Be sure to choose your shirt size! One shirt per walker. (Cotton T-shirts are in men’s sizes so ladies may want to go down 1 size). Please choose your shirt size in the ticket choices. Shirt sizes are limited so if your size is sold out and you would still like to join us for everything else included in the event choose the $20 ticket that does not include a shirt but includes the walk, dinner, and music.

If you are unable to attend but would like to purchase a shirt, they will be available for $20. To guarantee your shirt and the correct size purchase your ticket by noon Thursday September 12th. (Please contact me if you are only purchasing a shirt so I can get your size, hlcobleigh@gmail.com . )

Please use CR. 1250 S. to get to the South entrance of the Newton County Fairgrounds for parking in the South lot. We are sorry, no refunds are available.
